About “Princess of Elis”
La Princesse d'Élide is a 1664 French comic play by Molière, written in five acts that mix verse and prose. It is based on a 1654 Spanish play by Agustin Moreto y Cabaña, but Molière changed the setting to Elis in Greece. The play includes six intermèdes, which are short musical pieces with poetry by Molière and music by Jean-Baptiste Lully. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
