About “Prisoners of Power”
Prisoners of Power, also known as The Inhabited Island, is a science fiction novel written by Soviet authors Arkady and Boris Strugatsky. It was written in 1969 and first published in the literary magazine Neva that same year. It was released as a book in 1971, with significant changes made to comply with state censorship. An English translation was published in 1977. A 1992 Russian edition restored most of the original text, except for a few changes the authors later considered beneficial. The story follows Maxim Kammerer, a young man from the Earth of the Noon Universe, who becomes stranded on the planet Saraksh. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
