About “Qi Min Yao Shu”
The Qimin Yaoshu, translated as the "Essential Techniques for the Welfare of the People," is the most completely preserved ancient Chinese agricultural text. It was written by Jia Sixie, an official from the Northern Wei Dynasty, who was from Shouguang in Shandong province, an important agricultural area. The book is thought to have been completed in 544 CE, during the second year of Wu Ding of the Eastern Wei. Another source suggests it was finished between 533 and 544 CE.
