About “Quiet Days in Clichy”

Quiet Days in Clichy is a novella by Henry Miller. It draws from his time as a struggling writer in Paris in the early 1930s, when he lived in a small apartment in Clichy with his friend Alfred Perlès. The story is set around the period when Miller was working on Black Spring. According to photographer George Brassaï, Miller said the title is "completely misleading."
