Pascal Boyer is a professor of anthropology at Washington University in St Louis, Missouri. He has previously taught at Princeton, King's College, Cambridge, and the University of Lyon. In his work, Boyer examines the commonalities among religious beliefs, despite their great variety. He uses tools from cognitive science and evolutionary psychology to explore how religious beliefs reflect human needs and mental processes.
