About “Roman de Brut”

The Brut or Roman de Brut is a literary work composed by the poet Wace, consisting of almost 15,000 lines of Norman-French verse. It is an expanded translation of Geoffrey of Monmouth's Latin History of the Kings of Britain. The work was previously called Brut d'Engleterre or Roman des Rois d'Angleterre, but Wace referred to it as Geste des Bretons, meaning Deeds of the Britons. The genre of the work is unclear, as it is more than a simple chronicle but not a full romance. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
