About “Russian Fairy Tales”
Russian Fairy Tales is a collection of nearly 600 fairy and folktales gathered and published by Alexander Afanasyev between 1855 and 1863. The collection includes stories from Ukraine and Belarus as well as Russia. Afanasyev was influenced by the work of the German Brothers Grimm, Slovak tales collected by Pavol Dobšinský, Božena Němcová's research, Vuk Karadžić's Serbian tales, and other Norwegian, French, and Romanian sources.
