About “Schindler's ark”

Thomas Keneally wrote the 1982 novel Schindler's Ark, which won the Booker Prize. The book was inspired by Poldek Pfefferberg, a Holocaust survivor who met Keneally in 1980. Pfefferberg showed the author his detailed files on Oskar Schindler and served as an advisor. He accompanied Keneally to Poland, where they visited Kraków and locations tied to Schindler's story. Keneally dedicated the book to Pfefferberg, crediting him for inspiring the work. In a 2007 interview, Keneally said he was drawn to Schindler because of the unclear boundary between his opportunism and altruism.
