About “Seta”
France, 1861: when an epidemic threatens to wipe out the silk trade, silkworm breeder Herve Joncour travels overland to distant Japan, closed to foreigners, to smuggle out healthy silkworms. During secret negotiations with a local baron, Joncour is drawn to the baron's concubine, a girl with non-oriental eyes, and though unable to exchange a word, love blossoms between them. Published 1996 by Alessandro Baricco.
