This 2010 book by Christopher Ryan and Cacilda Jetha challenges the narrative that sexual monogamy comes naturally to humans. The authors contend that human beings evolved in egalitarian groups sharing food, child care, and often sexual partners, drawing on anthropology, archaeology, primatology, anatomy, and psychosexuality to argue how far monogamy is from human nature and how our promiscuous past haunts modern struggles over relationships and family.
