A journey along the Silk Road, covering approximately seven thousand miles over eight months, from the heart of China through Central Asia, northern Afghanistan, Iran, and into Kurdish Turkey. The book traces the historic route from the tomb of the Yellow Emperor to the ancient port of Antioch, exploring both the past and present of the regions traversed, including the movement of trade, armies, ideas, religions, and inventions, as well as the contemporary upheavals across Asia.
