In 2002, G. P. Taylor wrote a novel in which Obadiah Demurral, the ambitious Vicar of Thorpe, tries to gain godlike power through magic. Raphah, a man from Africa seeking to recover an artifact stolen from his temple and sold to Demurral, teams up with Kate and Thomas to stop him. The story centers on their efforts to prevent Demurral from succeeding in his dangerous pursuits.
