About “Spring Awakening”
Spring Awakening is a play written by Frank Wedekind between autumn 1890 and spring 1891. It was first performed on 20 November 1906 at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin, directed by Max Reinhardt. The play's subtitle is A Children's Tragedy. It addresses the sexual repression in nineteenth century Germany and portrays the emotional and sexual struggles of young people in that environment.
