About “Sverres saga”
Sverris saga is one of the Kings' sagas and focuses on King Sverre Sigurdsson of Norway. It is the primary source for this period of Norwegian history. The saga was first written in 1185 under the king’s direct supervision. Its final form includes multiple parts, and it is unclear when it was completed. It was likely well known by the 1220s when Snorri Sturluson began writing Heimskringla, as Snorri's account starts where Sverris saga ends. The saga was written close to the events it describes.
