About “Swami and Friends”
R. K. Narayan's debut novel, the first set in the fictional town of Malgudi and the first of a semi-autobiographical trilogy alongside The Bachelor of Arts and The English Teacher. In a gently humorous fashion, it relates the life and adventures of a young boy and his friends as they grow up in a small provincial town, and has been highly praised by critics and writers including Graham Greene.
