Sybil Dorsett was a woman who lived with 16 different personalities. She experienced sudden and mysterious blackouts as an adult. These blackouts were part of a larger psychological condition that made her case one of the most famous in the world. Her story was told in the 1973 book Sybil: The True Story of a Woman Possessed by 16 Separate Personalities. The book documented her experiences as a survivor of childhood abuse. Her condition became widely known and discussed in psychological circles.
