Takekurabe is a novella by Japanese writer Ichiyō Higuchi, first published in 1895–96. The story follows a group of young people growing up in Shitaya Ryūsenji-chō, a neighborhood in Yoshiwara, which was Tokyo's red light district during the Meiji era.
