About “Tamerlane”
Tamerlane is a poem by Edgar Allan Poe that fictionalizes the life of the Turco-Mongol conqueror Tamerlane. It was first published in 1827 as part of the collection Tamerlane and Other Poems, which had only 50 copies printed. The collection was attributed to "A Bostonian" rather than Poe's real name. The poem originally had 403 lines but was shortened to 223 lines for inclusion in Al Aaraaf, Tamerlane, and Minor Poems. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
