About “Tanya”

The Tanya is an early work of Hasidic philosophy written by Shneur Zalman of Liadi, the first Rebbe of Chabad. It was first published in 1796 under the title Likkutei Amarim, but this title was later downgraded to a subtitle in the 1798 edition. The book was then known by its incipit, "Tanya." It is divided into five sections and serves as a guide to Hasidic mystical psychology and theology. The Tanya provides practical teachings for daily spiritual life within Jewish observance. It is considered the main work of Chabad philosophy. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
