About “The American Dream”

This play is a satire on American family life concerning a married couple and their elderly mother, who are visited by two guests that turn their world upside down. The family consists of a dominating Mommy, an emasculated Daddy, and a witty Grandma; a neighbor, Mrs. Barker, arrives and eventually learns from Grandma that Mommy and Daddy had adopted and mutilated a son years earlier after objecting to his actions.
