About “The Bloody Chamber”
The Bloody Chamber is a collection of short stories by English writer Angela Carter. It was first published in the United Kingdom in 1979 by Gollancz and won the Cheltenham Festival Literary Prize. The stories are all based on fairytales or folk tales. Carter clarified that her goal was not to create "versions" or "adult" fairy tales, but to uncover the hidden meaning in traditional stories.
