The Carpenter's Pencil (O lapis do carpinteiro in Galician) is a 1998 novel by Galician author Manuel Rivas. Set during the Spanish Civil War, it follows a young couple, Daniel Da Barca and Marisa Mallo, whose happiness is destroyed when Galicia falls under a Falangist dictatorship, charting the linked destinies of a cast of characters bound by the war.
