About “The Chronicle of Sparrow Lane”

The Chronicle of Sparrow Lane is an 1857 novel by German writer Wilhelm Raabe. Raabe began writing the novel in November 1854 and finished it in May 1856. He lived on Spree Street in central Berlin during this time and used the street as the basis for the fictional Sparrow Lane in the book. In 1931, the street was renamed Sparrow Lane to honor Raabe.
