About “The Echo Maker”

On a winter night in Nebraska, 27-year-old Mark Schluter crashes his truck in a near-fatal accident. His older sister, Karin, returns to their hometown to care for him after he suffers a traumatic head injury. When Mark wakes from a long coma, he refuses to recognize Karin, convinced she is an identical impostor. Distraught, Karin seeks help from cognitive neurologist Gerald Weber, who identifies Mark’s condition as Capgras Syndrome, a rare delusion where a person believes a close relative has been replaced by an imposter. Weber becomes deeply involved in Mark’s case, but the truth about the accident, uncovered by Mark through an anonymous note, challenges everything he thought he knew. The events of that night ultimately change the lives of all three individuals forever.
