About “The Erl-King”
The Erl-King is a 1970 novel by French writer Michel Tournier. It was published in 1972 in an English translation by Barbara Bray under two titles: The Erl-King and The Ogre. The novel won the prestigious Prix Goncourt. A film adaptation titled The Ogre, directed by Volker Schlöndorff, was released in 1996 and is based on the novel.
