When penniless businessman Mr. Bedford retreats to the Kent coast to write a play, he meets Dr. Cavor, an absent-minded scientist who has developed a material that blocks gravity. Cavor reveals that the invention makes a journey to the moon possible. Motivated by money, Bedford joins Cavor on the expedition. They travel to the moon, where they encounter extreme temperatures and alien life. Neither is prepared for the harsh reality of the moon, where they may be trapped forever. The story is a novel by H. G. Wells.
