Commander George Krause of the United States Navy is tasked with protecting a convoy of thirty-seven merchant ships traveling across the North Atlantic from America to England. The convoy carries vital supplies and must evade a larger force of German submarines, engaging in a tense and exhausting struggle over forty-eight hours to safeguard the cargo and the lives of three thousand men.
