About “The Grundrisse”

The Grundrisse der Kritik der Politischen Ökonomie (Rohentwurf) is an unfinished manuscript written by Karl Marx between 1857 and 1858. It consists of seven notebooks containing economic studies and serves as the first major draft of Marx's critique of political economy. The work was intended as self-clarification during the Panic of 1857 and was not published during Marx's lifetime. It was first published in German in Moscow in 1939 and 1941.
