About “The L-shaped room”
Jane is unmarried and pregnant when she is turned out by her father and moves into a room at the top of a squalid house. She initially cares nothing for the room or her neighbours, but the people living there—Toby, a Jewish writer, John, a jazz player, and her landlady—gradually draw her back into life.
