About “The Law”
The Law is an 1850 essay by Frédéric Bastiat, written in Mugron two years after the third French Revolution and a few months before his death from tuberculosis at age 49. The work was influenced by John Locke's Second Treatise on Government and later influenced Henry Hazlitt's Economics in One Lesson. It is Bastiat's most famous work, alongside the candlemaker's petition and the parable of the broken window. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
