About “The Lesson”

The Lesson is a one-act play written by French-Romanian playwright Eugène Ionesco. It was first performed in 1951, directed by Marcel Cuvelier. The play has been continuously staged since 1957 at Paris' Théâtre de la Huchette, often paired with Ionesco's The Bald Soprano. It is considered a significant work in the "Theatre of the Absurd."
