About “The Man Who Walked Between the Towers”
The Man Who Walked Between the Towers is a 2003 picture book written and illustrated by Mordicai Gerstein. It tells the story of Philippe Petit, a French performer who walked on a tightrope between the twin towers of the World Trade Center in August 1974. Gerstein received the 2004 Caldecott Medal for his illustrations in the book. The story has been adapted into a film and a ballet.
