The Moon and the Sun is a 1997 novel by American writer Vonda N. McIntyre. It blends science fiction and historical romance. The book won the Nebula Award for Best Novel in 1997. It was published the same year as A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin. The novel was inspired by McIntyre’s short story The Natural History and Extinction of the People of the Sea, which was illustrated by Ursula K. Le Guin.
