"The Myth of the Vaginal Orgasm" is a feminist essay written by Anne Koedt in 1968 and published in 1970. It first appeared as a four-paragraph outline in Notes from the First Year and was later expanded into an article in Notes from the Second Year, a journal published by the New York Radical Women. The essay was influenced by findings from Masters and Johnson's 1966 work Human Sexual Response. It was later published as a pamphlet, including sections on the clitoral orgasm, female anatomy, and the reasons the idea of a vaginal orgasm persists.
