About “The Nazi and the Barber”
The Nazi and the Barber, also published as The Nazi Who Lived As a Jew (German original: Der Nazi & der Friseur), is a 1971 grotesque novel by German-Jewish writer Edgar Hilsenrath about the Holocaust during the Nazi era in Germany. Told from the perpetrator's perspective, it recounts the biography of SS mass murderer Max Schulz, who after World War II assumes a Jewish identity and finally emigrates to Israel to escape prosecution in Germany.
