About “The new handbook of Texas”
The New Handbook of Texas is a six-volume encyclopedia and biographical dictionary that continues the tradition of the original Handbook of Texas. It contains 23,500 articles covering all aspects of Texas history, from A to Z. The work includes detailed histories of all 254 counties and major cities, as well as entries on communities, events, geographical features, and organizations. Over 7,000 biographical entries highlight individuals who shaped Texas history, including African American and Mexican American contributions and the roles of women. The Handbook of Texas Online is a digital version produced by the Texas State Historical Association (TSHA) and offers access to the print content plus approximately 400 additional articles.
