About “The Parrot's Theorem”
When Mr. Ruche, a reclusive Parisian bookseller, receives a letter from a long-lost friend in the Amazon bequeathing him a vast library of mathematical books, he is drawn into an exploration of the history of mathematics. The story follows his journey through the works of Greek thinkers like Archimedes and Pythagoras, as well as the legacy of Fermat. Meanwhile, Max, a deaf boy living with Mr. Ruche, finds a parrot in a local flea market that speaks about mathematics. When Mr. Ruche learns of his friend's mysterious death in Brazil, he uses the library to teach Max and his siblings about mathematical concepts. However, it soon becomes clear that the library was left for reasons beyond knowledge, and the household becomes involved in a race to protect important theorems from falling into the wrong hands.
