About “The Partner”

John Grisham's novel follows the story of a man who disappeared in 1992 after a car crash in Biloxi, Mississippi. His name at the time was Patrick S. Lanigan, a law firm partner who had a wife, a daughter, and a promising future. Shortly after his presumed death, $90 million vanished from the firm, leading his partners to realize he was still alive. Over the next four years, they tracked him across the world, always just missing him. He was eventually found in a small town in Brazil, using the name Danilo Silva and having altered his appearance through plastic surgery. The search had cost three and a half million dollars, but no one had complained.
