About “The Pedagogical Poem”

The Pedagogical Poem is regarded worldwide as the most significant work of Soviet educator and writer Anton Makarenko (1888-1939). Written 1925-1935, the novel gives an artistic and documentary account of the founding and leadership of the Gorky Colony, where homeless minors and offenders were successfully returned to a cultured social life through useful work and involvement in co-managing the collective.
