About “The Peter Principle”
The Peter principle is a management concept developed by Laurence J. Peter. It states that people in a hierarchy tend to rise to a level of respective incompetence. Employees are promoted based on their success in previous roles, but their skills may not apply to higher positions, leading them to become ineffective in their new roles. The principle highlights how promotion can result in individuals being placed in positions where they are no longer competent. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
