About “The Queen of the South”

Teresa Mendoza Chávez, alias La Mejicana, is a Mexican woman with black eyes, black hair, and a slim figure. She was born in Culiacán, Sinaloa, to a Spanish father and a Mexican mother. She was involved with Raimundo Dávila Parra, a pilot linked to the Juárez cartel. She traveled to Spain, where she was connected to Driss Larbi, a nightclub owner in Melilla, and Santiago López Fisterra, a glider pilot. She was involved in the trafficking of tobacco and drugs. She was detained by the Customs Surveillance Service and imprisoned in El Puerto de Santa María. In this novel, Arturo Pérez-Reverte conducted extensive research on language.
