About “The Son”

The Son is a five-act Expressionist play by German playwright Walter Hasenclever, published in 1914. It was the first self-proclaimed, full-length Expressionist play to be produced, though its dramatic structure is more or less realistic. It addresses the conflict between generations and a young person's rejection of the world in general. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
