About “The Summer That Made Us”
The Hempstead family, consisting of two sisters who married two brothers and had three daughters each, traditionally spent their summers at a family house on Lake Waseka, where they found happiness and escape from city life. After an accidental drowning led to tragedy and the closure of the lake house, the family members became estranged and avoided discussing the events of that summer, until one woman seeks to reunite them by returning to the lake to confront the past.
