About “The sun's seventh horse”
The Sun's Seventh Horse is a 1952 Hindi meta-fiction novel by Dharamvir Bharati, one of the pioneers of modern Hindi literature. It presents three related narratives about three women, Jamuna, Sati, and Lily, narrated by Manik Mulla, also a character in the novel, to his friends over seven afternoons in the style of Hitopadesha or Panchatantra. It examines disappointments in love faced by these women and how they cope, and is noted for a subversive take on the "Devdas" syndrome. It followed Bharati's debut novel Gunahon Ka Devta (1949), which later became a classic. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
