The Transsexual Empire: The Making of the She-Male is a 1979 book by American radical feminist Janice Raymond. It was based on her dissertation, supervised by feminist theologian Mary Daly. The book examines sex-role-stereotyping and focuses on the social construction of gender. It has been criticized by some LGBT and feminist writers for being transphobic and dehumanizing.
