The Williams' family lives a difficult life, moving from place to place in their Model-T as their father seeks work. When they settle at the abandoned Las Palermas mansion to work the orchards, Robin discovers a hidden place called the Velvet Room, where she finds a sense of peace she has never known, and over the course of a year, she gradually uncovers its secrets while facing choices that could cost her the room forever.
