About “The Woman in the Fifth”
Harry Ricks, a man who has lost his job, marriage, and relationship with his child due to a romantic mistake at an American college, flees to Paris during winter. There, he takes a job as a nightwatchman for a sinister operation in a run-down district and becomes involved with Margit, an elegant Hungarian émigré who lives in the fifth arrondissement and meets him only briefly twice a week, while he becomes increasingly convinced that a dark force is targeting those who have wronged him.
