About “Tirumandhiram”
The Tirumantiram, also known as Thirumantiram, is a Tamil poetic work attributed to Tirumular, written between the 2nd century BCE and the 4th century CE. It is the tenth of twelve volumes in the Tirumurai, a central text of Shaiva Siddhanta. The work is the earliest known Tamil exposition of the Shaiva Agamas and contains over three thousand verses on spirituality, ethics, and praise of Shiva. It is more spiritual than religious and highlights differences between Vedanta and Siddhanta through its interpretation of the Mahavakyas. Historians note that it covers aspects of the siddhars of Tamil culture and emphasizes the fundamentals of Siddha medicine and its healing properties.
