Under Fire: The Story of a Squad by Henri Barbusse is a novel based on the author's experiences as a French soldier during World War I. Published as one of the first works about the war, it was awarded the Prix Goncourt in 1916. The novel is considered one of the earliest examples of the Lost Generation movement or the work that initiated it. It influenced later writers, including Ernest Hemingway and Erich Maria Remarque.
