In a valley surrounded by the Wood, a dragon is feared but not as a monster. He takes girls, but does not eat them, despite the stories told by travelers. These tales suggest a real dragon and human sacrifice, but the people know the truth. The dragon is a wizard and immortal, but also human. The community would unite to kill him if he ever wanted to eat one of them. He guards them from the dangers of the Wood, and they are thankful, though not overly so. This is the reality of the valley and its dragon.
